J Surg Rad: Editor - W. Scott Helton PDF Print E-mail

The Surgisphere Corporation is proud to announce that W. Scott Helton has been named an Editor of the Journal of Surgical Radiology. Dr. Helton is the chairman of the department of surgery at the Hospital of Saint Raphael. Dr. Helton completed his medical degree at the University of California, Irvine and completed his surgery residency at the University of Washington. He has completed fellowships in gastrointestinal physiology, surgical nutrition and metabolism, liver transplant, and hepatopancreatobiliary surgery. He is an internationally known surgeon, author of several textbook chapters and numerous research articles, and presently serves as the president of the AHPBA.

As Editor, Dr. Helton will ensure that the Journal of Surgical Radiology is held to the highest publishing standards and scientific conduct. He will work with a national group of experts in surgery and radiology, including Harvard Medical School, Duke University, Stanford University, Northwestern University, Mayo Clinic, Beth Israel Medical Center, and the Arizona Burn Center.

The Journal of Surgical Radiology is a peer-reviewed open access journal serving the needs of general surgeons, radiologists, and house officers. J Surg Rad publishes original scientific research, critical reviews, case reports, innovative procedures, clinical studies, technological advances, and editorials in all areas of surgery and radiology. Dr. Shortell is chief of the division of vascular surgery and vice-chair of faculty affairs at Duke University Medical Center. Dr. Shortell is a widely published author of several textbooks and dozens of research articles. Dr. Shortell completed her medical degree at Cornell University Medical College, her surgical residency and vascular surgery fellowship at the University of Rochester, and joined the faculty there before becoming the chief of vascular surgery at Duke.
